International Outdoor Activities

The international environmental studies program at Castle Rock travels to remote areas for extended contact with various ecosystems and natural features. It strives to provide a diversity of outdoor experiences, exposing students to mountains, deserts, beaches, forests, lakes and rivers.

The current itinerary for this program emphasizes both foot and boat travel through wilderness areas, hence making backpacking and sea kayaking its major activities. Other activities (see below) are included as well. In all cases, this program provides a basic introduction to the different outdoor adventure activities, and is suitable for students with little or no previous experience in outdoor adventure.

Listed here are the main outdoor activities we offer in this program.

  • Hiking
  • Camping
  • Snorkeling
  • Mountain Biking
  • Flatwater conoeing
  • Rock climbing
  • Backpacking
